The Peterson Business Wing is located on the Main Level of the Greenwich Library. Funds for construction of this wing and its endowment were the generous gift of Clementine Lockwood Peterson, whose bequest funded the Business Library in memory of her husband, J. Whitney Peterson. Business materials and databases are paid for by funds from the Town of Greenwich and the Peterson Foundation.

World Affairs Forum Great Decisions - The Koreas

Greenwich Library and the World Affairs Forum will present a Great Decisions event featuring Charles Armstrong, professor at Columbia. Armstrong will speak on 'The Koreas' on Monday, February 22 at 7 pm in the Cole Auditorium. Dr. Armstrong is The Korea Foundation Professor of Korean Studies in the Social Sciences in the Department of History and the director of the Center for Korean Research at Columbia University. He has taught at Princeton, the University of Washington, and Seoul National University, and joined the Columbia faculty in 1996. He is a frequent commentator in the US and in international media on Korean, East Asian, and Asian-American affairs. A specialist in the modern history of Korea and East Asia, Armstrong has published several books on contemporary Korea, including Tyranny of the Weak: North Korea and the World, 1950 - 1992 (Cornell University Press, 2013; winner of the John Fairbank Prize of the American Historical Association) and The Koreas (Routledge: second edition, 2014). Professor Armstrong holds a B.A. in Chinese Studies from Yale University, an M.A. in International Relations from the London School of Economics, and a Ph.D. in History from the University of Chicago. This event is open to the public at no charge. The World Affairs Forum is a non-profit, non-partisan organization dedicated to expanding understanding of global affairs and America's role in the world. The Forum is an affiliate of the World Affairs Councils of America.
